Setouchi Triennale 2025 preview on Ogijima

Wait a minute? Didn't I just send you a post a few days ago?

Yes, I did, but I need to share this with you as soon as possible, and definitely before Friday.

Back in the days when the Triennale started at the end of March, one of my favorite things to do was to go on site while the artists were preparing their works. I got to know and sometimes even befriend some of them, and it always allowed me to experience some great behind-the-scenes visits.

I got to know and sometimes even befriend some of them, and it always allowed me to experience some great behind-the-scenes visits.

Unfortunately, it's harder these days because I don't have as much free time in April as I do in March (if you don't know, the academic year in Japan starts in April).
Yesterday, however, I went to Ogijima and got a preview of some of the new art. Everything is pretty much set up, since it was Press Day, when journalists can get pictures of the artworks without visitors around, and so on. I'm no longer eligible for a press pass (in 2019, they've decided to only give them to "professionals." Oh well), but all the contacts I've made over the past few years have allowed me to have an "informal" pass in some places.

This allows me to show you some things before the rest of the world can see them.

Enjoy.
